What We Do

Our Process

Our founding years (2020-2021) were times of learning for NBCA. First, we learned that the best (and possibly the only) way to influence is with fact and reason, not emotion. We learned how the County works. We learned how to research, request information and read the very complex codes and policies for St. Johns County.

We also learned that we cannot take on every issue we hear about.  First, we don’t have the resources to do that. More importantly, when we take on an issue, we want to be seen as credible – of having done good due diligence and bringing forward issues that have significant impact to the quality of life of Vilano and North Beach residents.

At the same time, we want to share our knowledge and experience with residents who have an issue in their neighborhood or even privately.  We will help steer their initial research, share our experience and offer support to residents and neighborhoods who want to pursue engaging the County in finding a solution.

There will be times when an issue is so significant to residents' quality of life that NBCA will decide to  take it on as a major project, much as we did with the Vilano Hotel.  For those projects we will invite input from the community, and keep the community informed about the process.
